MTH’s new performance series fuses the silent movie genre with LIVE jazz artists performing original and improvisational compositions. Presented in The MTH Studio Theater and Cinema, the jazz quartet is led by Joey Panella and features Nate Nall on Trumpet and Flugelhorn, Eddie Moore (of The Outer Circle) on Keyboards and Synths, and Brian Steever on Drums and Percussion. Widely considered the first great horror film “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” is considered to be part of the German Expressionist Movement. Some have said that the moral and technological upheaval of World War I was largely responsible for this movement. Films like “The Golem”, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”, and “Nosferatu” explored the horrors of a world that had gone so beyond the values of the past that there was a feeling of being suspended in a world without values.
