We love to
hear what you have to say!
I
have been listening to your shows almost every Saturday since
I was eight. It gives me a chance to see exactly how the musicians
and composers lived and struggled through out their daily
lives. I feel I've become one of the members of a band or
an actress in a musical. I've always been an enormous fan
of the broadway musical; eight years later I still listen
to it. I've never ever seen a Broadway show live but it feels
as if I've been to every single one. I thank you for the energy
and humor in which you present the shows. I also thank you
for staying on the air for so long. The show always makes
me feel better. If I know a song I sing it. If I don't I look
up information on the musical. Thank you again for continuing
to add history and enjoyment to the Broadway musical world.
Your
faithful listener, Helen Hall
You are a unique,
significant, & most important man in presenting American
culture. You are much, much more than an entertainer and could
do wonders for young college people by presenting your shows
to them. One of your narratives w/music would do more to illuminate
this great country to young students than all the courses
on the Civil or First World Wars. I was born in '29 so tonights
show was familiar to me through my parents, who grew up on
the Lower East Side of NYC. My Mother loved the Jewish Theater
on 2nd Avenue (went on Saturday, the sabbath, so don't tell
anyone!). My Father was a dancer and grew up with all the
names you mention (his sister, Hermosa, danced with George
Burns. In order to travel the Shubert Theater Circuit as a
team, her mother made her marry George. That was some years
before he met Gracie). Their stories and that "look in
their eyes" makes me believe the Roaring 20s was the
best of all decades. Thank you for your presntation of American
musical history. I Savor every show.
Thank
you, Norman Siegel
